Health, safety and wellbeing at Openreach
We’re committed to having the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing across the whole of our business. As part of that, we have the following accreditations:
- Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
This scheme's supported by the Health and Safety Executive. Most local authorities, housing associations, health trusts, fire services and similar public bodies look for contractors who have this accreditation.
- Achilles UVDB
We've achieved category B2 from Achilles. That means it has confirmed that our health and safety management system is effective by carrying out audits of our processes and procedures, both in our offices and on sites.
This is a health and safety accreditation scheme which audits companies to the SAFEcontractor Charter Standard. This means we also meet the CDM stage 1 competence assessment core criteria.
- Health, Safety and Environmental Passport from the Energy and Utility Skills Register (EUSR)
We’ve worked with EUSR to create a Health, Safety and Environmental Passport scheme that checks our people’s understanding of these areas. It’s in line with the core syllabus recommended by the Health and Safety Executive. It’s valid for three years, and is also affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme.
