We might build the network, but you bring it to life

Whether you're streaming movies or running a business, we're here to keep you connected.

Watch our video to find out more.

How we connect you

There are three ways we connect you to our broadband network

Copper Network (ADSL)

Basic broadband access uses a copper phone line connected to the exchange. Check with a Communications Provider if you can upgrade to FTTC / FTTP.

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) increases basic broadband speeds by connecting powerful fibre optic cable to the cabinet, then copper wires to your home or business.

The future is Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), where pure fibre optic cables connect you straight to the exchange.

The future of fibre

There are a few ways we use fibre optic cables to connect you to our network.

Watch our video about FTTC and FTTP - what they are, what they mean to your broadband, and how we’re changing our network across the UK for the better.

What makes your FTTP so good?

It’s always on

There’s no go-slow with FTTP full fibre technology – just better performance, impressive speeds and less drop-outs.

Never lets you down

Fibre optic cables are powerful and resilient, so you can always rely on being connected to big bandwidth wherever you are.

Ready for anything

Be unstoppable online, on everything from phones, tablets, smart appliances, laptops, desktops, VR headsets, smart glasses - and even the heating button in your home.

Our vision

Your new fibre optic network will give you everything you need to do more of what you want online.

We want you to enjoy your broadband - downloading films in seconds, doing business from your home office - even turning up the heating from the train home.

Our story

Our FTTP network is already covering 600,000 premises.

But we've committed to build a new digital infrastructure to three million premises by 2020. So we’re hiring 3,500 new engineers in 2018, up-skilling our army of engineers at the same time.

“Openreach is a fibre business and no-one is more ambitious when it comes to building FTTP. Through our Fibre First programme, we’re building a network that delivers more than just speed. It will provide a future proof, consistent and dependable broadband service, that supports Britain for decades to come.”
